SILAS ABAYOMI

GIVE ME NOT…

But
Give me not atomic weapon
to annihilate human race,
give me not nuclear power to
wipe out human civilization,
rather give me knowledge
to change myself and the
world.

Give me not gun to kill,
give me not warship,
frigate, carrier, and
submarine,
but give me power to
affect human race
positively,
give me education to
make society better,
give me economic power
to raise a good home and
build a nation.

Give me not jet bombers,
give me not air fighter jets,
but give me quality
health care,
functional education,
beautiful classroom,
qualified teachers,
social services to make me
a complete man.

Give me not violent video
games,
rather indoor and outdoor
gyms with games to promote
mental health,
develop me physically
to be a valuable asset to
the society

Make community sporting
facilities functional,
let recreational center
be a center of leisure,
abode of enjoyment,
park for amusement,
place of pleasure, and
haven for fun.

Give me not biological or
chemical weapons,
rather teach me robotic
science to care for
assignments difficult for
man,
initiate me to automation
science,
give me tutorials in
artificial intelligence.

Lewd and morally damaging
entertainment,
never let my eyes see and
view,
but symphony of birds,
which heals the heart,
teach me to replicate.

Things to think about
never condition my mind,
rather independent mind of
my own,
let it be my inheritance;
to act rationally,
to think unlike zombie,
to behave not under
a spell or dogma.

Give me…
give me…
give me…
things to add value to
LIFE.

ABANDONED CHILD.

Found on road side,
guarded by a loyal dog,
saved by a good Samaritan,
nursed in a foster home,
raised in a home
by loving adoptive parents;
yesterday’s abandoned,
today’s discoverer.

Mother-what did I do?
father-why me? why me?
mother-your temporary amnesia-
makes you unfeeling and callous.

Father pollinator,
vector butterfly,
peck and go,
pollen dropper,
nectar sipper,
you become unthreaded needle
lost in sea of mankind.

Mother-heart you did not give,
a dog did,
kindness-you did not show,
a good Samaritan demonstrated,
care-you deny me,
foster home gave it to me,
love-I never witnessed from
biological parents,
adoptive parents compensated.

Mother-breastfeeding and
filial relationship-
you held from me,
three-year-weaning,
I did not know;
your face, voice, and
picture,
I lost and mine you lost.

Every child has
biological parents,
at different times-
mine were-
AWOL biological, legal, and
adoptive parents;
life challenges and battles-
I fought alone without you.

Abandoned-yes-adopted,
forsaken yes cherished and
helped by unknown,
deserted but assisted and
supported by intangible
to tangible.

Rejected but accepted
elsewhere,
abnegated by household,
treasured by unknown,
stranded at source,
afloat in faraway land
disowned by my family,
acknowledged by world.

Lost but Found.
